Naples, October 17–19, 2025 – 9th National Scientific Conference “Down Syndrome: From Research to Therapy” – Round Table: “Research and Autonomy: Scientific Evidence and Life Testimonies”

March 17, 2026

From October 17 to 19, 2025, Naples hosted a crucial event for the scientific community and families: the 9th National Scientific Conference “Down Syndrome: From Research to Therapy.” As sponsors and speakers, we at YouDoTools had the privilege of participating in the round table dedicated to “Research and Autonomy: Scientific Evidence and Life Testimonies.”

It was an opportunity to reaffirm a fundamental concept: technology is not just a technical tool, but a true bridge toward independence.

AI: A Compass for Cognitive Performance

Giacomo Sergio opened our contribution by analyzing how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can transform from an abstract concept into concrete support for autonomy.

Although AI was born back in 1956, the true revolution for intellectual disability is happening today. Giacomo explained how AI can support complex tasks through:

Enhanced Communication: The ability to interpret atypical vocal patterns, improving interaction with the outside world.

Linguistic Simplification: Reworking complex texts into accessible language.

Understanding the Value of Money: Support for daily financial management.

From Theory to Practice: YouDoToo in Action

The moment of practical demonstration featured Guido Marangoni and Sara Bonaventura, who presented the evolution of our application: YouDoToo, born from the experience of the Vite Vere App.

The strength of YouDoToo lies in its simplicity and effectiveness. During the presentation, we demonstrated how the app can guide a person with intellectual disabilities through daily tasks that require planning, such as tidying a room. Through intuitive interfaces, AI helps break the activity down into small, manageable steps, transforming a challenge into a personal success.

Beyond General-Purpose Technology

We emphasized that AI “on its own” is not the solution. General-purpose solutions often present accessibility biases or unverified sources. For this reason, YouDoTools focuses on RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation): systems capable of drawing exclusively from verified and secure information, calibrated to the specific needs of each individual.

“It is necessary to create a network of professionals, caregivers, and associations to train AI and create tools that truly bridge the gap with typical development.”

A Shared Commitment

Our goal remains clear: Independent Together. We want technology to be ethical, secure, and, above all, inclusive.

We thank the conference organizers and all participants for the invaluable exchange of ideas. The future of autonomy starts here.
